To reduce the risk of damage, take some precautions: Use coasters for glasses and mugs. If a glass top is added to the veneer surface, be sure it rests on felt pads. Don’t place a potted plant on a veneer surface unless it’s in a water-tight container or in a drip tray. Use protective pads under equipment with “rubber” cushioning feet.
-
Objects should be lifted instead of dragged across a surface. Protective pads should be used under items with a rough bottom, like pottery. Denting, caused by extreme pen pressure when writing, can also damage veneer. Use desk pads or some other protection where a lot of paperwork is done.
-
Sunlight can damage veneer as well, so veneer surfaces should not be in direct sunlight. To help a surface age evenly, users can periodically move items on their desks and tables so that the entire surface is exposed to an even amount of light over time. In addition to light, extremely high or low humidity is a damaging environmental factor.
Upholstery
Regular care (weekly) – Vacuum regularly using low suction – Rotate reversible cushions regularly – Protect from direct sunlight
Spot Cleaning
-
Treat spills and stains as soon as possible. Gently scrape any soil or mop any liquid from the surface of the fabric, apply proprietary cleaning agents strictly according to instructions to remove the residue of the spill. Do not saturate the fabric or interior with water or other cleaning liquids. For larger stains, we recommend contacting a professional upholstery cleaner.
Cleaning
-
Do not remove cushion covers for separate cleaning or washing, even though they may have zippers. Shampoo clean using upholstery specific shampoo. Do not use dishwashing or laundry detergents. Do not wet filling. Do not scrub with a stiff brush. Gently vacuum to restore pile. Dry in shade away from direct heat and sun. Allow to dry thoroughly before re-use; or Clean with warm-water extraction machine (max temp 30 degrees Celcius) or use a professional cleaning service. Only use upholstery specific detergent. Do not wet filling. Gently vacuum to restore pile. Dry in shade away from direct heat and sun. Allow to dry thoroughly before re-use.
-
After cleaning is complete, re-application of soil resistant treatment may be required.
-
CAUTION: Secondary applications of stain repellent treatments may affect the performance of some pre–treated fabrics. Please test on an inconspicuous area before applying. Annual professional cleaning recommended.
Pilling
-
Can occur occasionally as a result of normal daily wear and should not be considered as a fault. Fibre pills can be removed by a battery operated pilling tool available from most haberdashery stores.
Shading
-
Orientation of pile fibres will be disrupted when sat upon, resulting in an apparently different shade on contact areas. This disruption of the pile fibres and consequent apparent colour change are inherent characteristics and should not be considered as defects.
